Welcome to ReadWise English ("the App", "we"). The App is developed and operated by the Pandynova team. We respect and are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how we use it, and what control you have over your data.
By using the App you agree to the data handling described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
Apple Unique Identifier: an irreversible user identifier provided when you sign in with Apple.
Email Address: collected only when you choose to share it (Apple lets you hide your real email behind a relay).
Name: provided by Apple at first login authorization only, and optional.
We do not collect your password — authentication is fully handled by Apple.
1.2 Learning Data
Reading progress: chapters being read, paragraph position, accumulated reading time.
Vocabulary learning records: words you've looked up, marked, or added to your vocab list, along with their review state (SM-2 spaced repetition).
Practice answers: chapter exercise results and accuracy stats.
AI query content: words or sentences you tap to look up (used to generate explanations, not retained long-term linked to your identity, see section 3).
1.3 Subscription Status
Subscription validity and status retrieved from Apple's receipt verification service. We do not handle your payment information — all transactions are processed by Apple.
1.4 Device Technical Information
App version, iOS version — used solely for compatibility troubleshooting.
Crash logs (only when crashes occur) — we do not actively collect device fingerprints or advertising identifiers.
When you look up words, generate deep-study content, or request chapter analysis, we send only the necessary text snippets (the queried word, the surrounding sentence, your English level) to Anthropic's Claude API to generate explanations.
Anthropic does not retain these requests long-term or use them for model training (per their commercial API policy).
Requests do not contain your name, email, Apple ID, or other identity information.
The App's servers and database are hosted on AWS's US East region (us-east-2).
AWS acts as infrastructure only and does not read your data content.
3.4 Cloudflare
Used for DNS resolution and basic security protection. Cloudflare does not persistently store your request content.
4. Data Storage and Security
All data is stored in an AWS RDS MySQL database (Virginia, USA).
All client-server communication is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
No passwords are stored (Apple OAuth only); access tokens are issued and revocable using industry-standard mechanisms (Laravel Sanctum).
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data until:
You request deletion via "My → Settings → Delete Account" in the App. Accounts enter a 30-day soft-delete window during which they can be restored; after that period the associated data is permanently deleted.
You haven't used the App for 24 months, in which case we may contact you and clear inactive accounts after 30 days.
After deletion we retain: financial records required by law (e.g. subscription payment receipts, held by Apple); anonymized aggregate statistics (no longer linked to any individual).
6. Your Rights
You have the right at any time to:
Access your data in the App (via My → My Data export);
Correct your name, email, or other personal information;
Delete your account and all associated data (see section 5);
Withdraw consent: stopping use of the App constitutes withdrawal of consent for us to continue processing your data.

7. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover such information has been collected, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us at the email above.
8. Changes to This Policy
This Policy may be updated. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification and/or your registered email. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated on changes. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
